Nice article! I always think it’s tough for rookies to have such a high comparison laid on them early, but I think this guy can definitely be productive in the NFL.

I’ve been eyeing this guy all summer! Watching his highlights, he was going to be my first pick which isn’t til the 3rd Rd (40th overall) I have J.Allen,j.Tuck, & E.Dumervil. As you see, I’m getting long in the tooth at that position. Really wish he wouldn’t do so well in preseason and really want my draft to get here already before some of the turds in my league see the light on him. He is the real deal!

Interesting article, but Jones may not even be the most impressive (or talented) rookie defensive end on the Patriots roster. People better start taking note of Jake Bequette. A 3-year starter at Arkansas, Bequette has very similar height, weight and 40 times to Jones. However, he was significantly faster in the 20 yard shuttle and 3-cone drills. Lastly, it was Bequette who notched 2 1/2 tackles and a sack in the Patriots pre-season opener.

  4. Chris Mertz says:

Picked him up at 4.10 in our rookie draft.

  5. Steve Wyremski says:

I agree Bequette is worth a watch.

However, I don’t think we’re talking about the same talent/upside as we are with Jones. While the box score favors Bequette, Jones impressed on the field with things that aren’t factored in the box score. He also played against the first team offense and was all over the place.

Bequette still has an uphill climb to see consistent snaps with the first team defense. His solid performance was also in the 4th quarter against reserves.
