In a stunning development, LenDale White was released by Seattle today. He was said to be in good shape and excited for the opportunity, but something big obviously happened. I’m sure we’ll find out in the coming days, but this has some serious implications on a number of players.
UPDATE: White is reportedly facing a four game ban for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. That explains it.
LenDale White RB FA
This could be the end of the road for White. He’s just gone from mid-to-late dynasty pick to the scrap heap. At this point, he’s a late round flyer at best and that’s in a really deep league.
Justin Forsett RB SEA
Forsett was a great play late last season and his value just went up temporarily. However, I’d wait to see what happens in the coming days before I’d go making offers or drafting him too early. Fact is, if they thought he could be a reliable 1st and 2nd down back, they wouldn’t have gone after White in the first place.
Julius Jones RB SEA
This news is great for Jones, at least for now. He was going to be fighting for a roster spot, but may have a shot at sticking if the Hawks stand pat.
Leon Washington RB SEA
Washington’s value is pretty much unaffected. He was going to be a return ace and 3rd down back when healthy anyway.
Quinton Ganter RB SEA
He may get a chance for more RB chances now instead of being a true FB. He’s really not dynamic at all, though. I’d stay away.
This news is significant on a lot of fronts. It will be very interesting to see what Seattle does in the coming weeks. They could wait to see if another veteran is cut (see: Washington Redskins), kick the tires on Brian Westbrook or another FA, or try to secure someone like Marshawn Lynch in trade.
Regardless, Pete Carroll and John Schneider are currently sleepless in Seattle.
